The Goal: Modernize an E-Commerce brand that specializes in health and wellness supplements for client’s direct-to-doctor (B2B) vertical. Create a website that provides an online store that offers bulk ordering and drop shipping for doctors to sell directly to their patients.
The Pain Points: The previous website was difficult for the client’s users (average ages of 45-70) to navigate, make purchases on, and review the product’s scientific material.
The Solution: By designing a website around their weekly web series focused on showcasing their products, we have been able to capitalize on growing a qualified following of certified doctors who can then sell supplements to patients. In addition to their educational site, an online store was designed with maximal organizational offerings and advanced search support. Products are featured in an easy-to-purchase bulk order layout and a custom application was built to aid users in drop-shipping their purchases directly to customers.
Scope of Work: After an initial meeting with the client, a comprehensive Scope of Work (SOW) was created encompassing the timeline of deliverables, research on competitors, design references, and a sitemap. Once approved, wireframes and the first mockups were developed.
The Nitty Gritty: Design and development included a homepage mockup where the client’s business goals were aligned with user-centered design practices, before expanding on the design to include supportive sub-pages. The focus of the homepage was to feature a new video each Tuesday on the hero section of the website and via email blast. Supportive materials are uploaded and can be used to supplement or provide documentation on the product featured in the video. To build on this educational directive, a video library was constructed to store each of these “Tuesday Minute” videos. Several premium webinars and/or in-person demonstrations are given each year, which are also featured on the website along with a “Clinical Training” audio series discussing their most recommended products.
The Store: To close the circle between educational material and store providers, an exclusive online store was constructed and restricted to only verified practitioners with active accounts. The ability to filter bulk order products took precedence in this design. A custom address book app was also developed. This new app added a step in the checkout process that allowed a doctor to choose the name and address of their patient so they can drop-ship their orders quickly. All payment information is saved during account creation to allow for a full checkout in 3 clicks or under.
