Project Highlights

Project Overview

The Goal: After working with the client on an initial website redesign and offering continuous support over a 3 year period, we identified 2 critical areas of improvement for their website, educating the user and streamlining the booking process.

The Pain Points

Problem #1: Low general knowledge for Virtual Reality (VR) Arcades.

Solution: Highlighting video assets that showcase experiences from Individual Stations, the Wireless VR Arena, and VR Motion Simulators. The game library also now includes video assets to preview the experience before a user books.

Problem #2: Booking was tedious and confusing.

Solution: Implement a booking funnel to (1) guide users through each experience during checkout, and (2) educate users on their game options prior to booking

The Process

Scope of Work: This process began with a deep dive into competitors such as Top Golf and iPlay America. I compiled their user journeys into our SOW which outlined key improvements, inspirations, and sitemaps. Working with their new POS system, a timeline was set for launch.

The Nitty Gritty: After working with OasisVRX for 3 years, the data pointed to their most profitable return and frequent purchaser being group activities. Drawing inspiration from companies such as Top Golf and iPlayAmerica, Oasis’s online presence was re-constructed to cater to group-based activities.

First, the homepage was reworked to include each of their main offerings, easy-to-digest information explaining the experience, and a supplemental video to support the language. This formula was duplicated for each offering and carried throughout the website with an emphasis on video usage to explain the VR mechanics. Next, the focus shifted to a booking system that explains as you purchase. This creates a funnel effect from each booking start point, where a service is selected, then brings you to an explanation page where you can choose which experience to book during the service. The final step lands the user on a selection page for the length of the booking or how many group members will be attending.
